About
Hello! I’m Kaylee Brenneman, and I’m so happy that you’re taking this step. It takes tremendous courage to start a therapeutic journey, and I hope that I can join you on yours. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked as an advocate and case manager in an emergency shelter for survivors of intimate partner violence. I received my Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) and Master of Education (M.Ed.) degrees from the University of Florida in Mental Health Counseling, and I feel passionate about the processes of growth and change that we all engage in throughout our lives.
I began my clinical experience working in a residential addiction treatment program, after which I began working as a therapist in private practice in Gainesville, Florida. I founded Luminous Counseling Services upon moving back to Lakeland. I am a Lakeland native, and I am excited to positively impact my home through the work we are doing. I take an empowerment-based approach to therapy, integrating practical skills work with trauma healing work. I love working with teenagers, college students, and adults who experience issues with distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and self-harming behavior.
In my work as a clinician, I have witnessed the immense resilience that people have in the face of the uncertain, the terrifying, and the overwhelming. The fact that you’ve made it this far means tells me that you have tremendous strength already. I believe that people are always doing the best that they can with the resources that they have, and they also want and need to deal with the hardships of life more effectively - that's where I step in to support, accept, educate, and guide you, walking beside you on your journey. I look forward to meeting with you soon!
